Management Style Attitude Test

Think about these statements and then decided whether you agree or disagree with each statement.

Your Response
1.  If you monitor your employees too closely, they will think you distrust them. Letting go of this will help your employees learn to trust you as well. With the trust you earn, you may also earn their respect.
2.  These incentives will motivate your employees, but only in the short-term. Think of other ways to create long-term motivation.
3.  Many days are lost each year because of personal problems. As the manager, being aware of what’s going on in your employees’ lives may help you identify problems before they jeopardize the workplace.
4.  Never rely on your instincts. Ask your employees how they are doing. This will help build rapport and trust.
5.  It depends how you praise them, but praise is generally good. Recognizing others’ work is the best form of motivation.
6.  Caring about employees makes them feel valued. An employee who feels valued will be motivated.
7.  Listening to your employees and making changes (including policy changes) when needed will help your employees feel a part of the team and a part of the company. This will increase trust and help build rapport.
8.  Knowing how they contribute to the company will help create a sense of value and belonging which will increase motivation.
9.  Since your employees are your most valuable assets, they help create your success. Share your successes with them, so they know that you realize they are a part of it.
10.  For those who wish to advance, definitely. However, there are some employees who do not wish to move up and learn new skills.

Think about the questions and your answers. If there are some attitudes that you could change that would increase trust and motivation, what could you do?
