Ethics: Personal Code of Ethics

Your personal code of ethics will be your guidepost for making ethical decisions. You will want to include your values, or at least make sure that your values are included somehow. Your code of ethics will be broader than your personal responsibility statement, and you may include that statement within your code of ethics.

Ideally, your code of ethics would include:

• A statement about the code and its purpose.
• Your aspirations, i.e., what you will do.
• Guiding rules or beliefs for interacting with other people.

You may need to go through several revisions before you find the wording and organization that works for you. .
